Jason Calacanis Tells Followers to Dump Bitcoin for AI. Saylor Answers in Two Lines

Jason Calacanis spent Tuesday telling his followers to sell their Bitcoin and buy artificial intelligence instead. Michael Saylor needed about two sentences to answer him.
THE POST
The All-In podcast co-host posted on X early Tuesday that "a brutal year for Bitcoin is just getting started." "Give me three minutes to explain why you should dump it now," he wrote.
He backed it with a specific case against holding Bitcoin at all. He said outflows from Bitcoin ETFs "will continue," that the price will "test the 57k low again in the next 12 months," and that "Bitcoin will never break its all-time high again." He called Bitcoin a "dead network that offers nothing beyond a store of value."
The AI pitch came with the same intensity. "Just sell and shift from Bitcoin to Super Intelligence because one provides little to no value, and the other provides unlimited upside for humanity," he wrote. He added that "the viral nature of bitcoin was it's power... if you didn't own you were MOCKED!" and argued that the memes and NFT mania that once pulled people into Bitcoin have simply moved on to AI.
SAYLOR'S REPLY
Strategy's co-founder did not engage the AI-versus-Bitcoin framing as a contest. Saylor wrote: "AI creates abundance. Bitcoin enforces scarcity. One expands humanity's ability to create value. The other lets us preserve and transfer it across time and space. Digital Intelligence and Digital Capital are complementary, Jason."
Where Calacanis argued the two technologies are competing for the same dollar, Saylor argued they are not competing at all: one is for building, the other is for holding what gets built. It is a direct rebuttal of the "sell one to buy the other" logic the whole post was built on.
A DECADE OF THE SAME CALL
Calacanis has a long history of being skeptical of Bitcoin, and in August he asked on X whether Bitcoin would ever reach $1 million, or even $250,000, saying he believed Michael Saylor "broke the game of bitcoin by trying to corner the market." On September 19 he called Bitcoin "a boring store of value" and said "the dead cat continues to bounce." The all-time-high-is-dead line is simply his latest version of a prediction he has made repeatedly for years, dressed this time in AI's current momentum rather than a competing cryptocurrency.
THE ACTUAL DISAGREEMENT
Strip away the insults and the real dispute is simple. Calacanis is betting that capital only has room for one dominant story at a time, and that AI has already taken Bitcoin's seat. Saylor is betting that a tool for creating value and an asset for storing it were never supposed to compete in the first place. Bitcoin was trading around $79,787 at the time of the post, roughly 37 percent below its all-time high of $126,080 set on October 6, 2025. Whether that gap closes has nothing to do with how good AI gets.
