BlackRock's IBIT Leads Bitcoin ETFs to Their Best Week Since October 2025

Spot Bitcoin ETFs just had their best week in nearly a year, and one fund did most of the buying.
THE NUMBERS
US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $1.92 billion in weekly inflows, their strongest performance since October 2025, as Bitcoin surged toward $79,000. Over the five trading days from August 17 through 21, total net inflows across all spot Bitcoin ETFs came in at $297.6 million, $189.3 million, $517.2 million, $606.3 million, and $307.5 million respectively. BlackRock's IBIT dominated the weekly ledger with $1.33 billion in inflows, while Fidelity's FBTC added $293.1 million and ARK 21Shares' ARKB brought in $126.9 million.
That puts IBIT's share of the week's total inflows at roughly seven out of every ten dollars that moved into Bitcoin ETFs. On the show, the hosts pointed to this concentration as the clearest sign of who is actually behind the buying: not retail chasing a rally, but the institutional flow that has favored BlackRock's fund since launch.
WHY IT MATTERS NOW
The last major inflow wave, in October 2025, preceded the October 10 crash, the largest liquidation event in the industry's history, which wiped out roughly $19 billion in leveraged positions within 24 hours. That history is why the hosts on the show were careful this time to draw a distinction between the flows and the price action. Bitcoin ETF assets under management rose 25% to $96.07 billion, with price gains driving most of the weekly increase, as assets under management rose to $96.07 billion, up 25%.
Despite the latest surge, US spot Bitcoin ETFs have recorded about $2.91 billion in net outflows so far in 2026, though August has brought $2.38 billion in net inflows through Friday, making it the strongest month for inflows so far this year. The rally was not confined to Bitcoin. Ether funds added $697.18 million over the same stretch, while Solana, XRP and HYPE ETFs also finished the week in positive territory.
WHAT TO WATCH NEXT
The specific thing that separates this week from a repeat of October is whether IBIT's buying keeps pace once Bitcoin actually clears $80,000, a level ETF flows alone have not yet been able to push it through. If inflows fade the moment that resistance breaks, this was a rally built on price momentum. If they accelerate, it is institutional demand catching up to a story that has already been told in the bond market.
